In the footsteps of Art Deco

The department stores of Reims

Grand Bazar, located on Rue de Vesle, was destroyed during the First World War and made way for Magasin Moderne in 1922. The building is currently occupied by Galeries Lafayette and has been rebuilt several times due to fires.

Created in 1840 by the Bureau, Bataille and Lorin families, the Deux Pommes d'Or fabric shop, located between Rue de l’Arbalète and Rue de Pouilly, became the Galeries Rémoises during the reconstruction era in 1923. It was then occupied by the Printemps brand between 1989 and 2003, before being transformed into commercial premises and accommodation. The Art Deco façade has been preserved.
